FRIDAY INSPIRATION…project updates, Christiane Kubrick, and Kindness

I have completed the “Vampy project” for Ciarra. I call it “Vampy” because the color and materials reminded me of a Vampire. I am so in love with the skirt. It is made from a really interesting and pretty fabric, while the top is made of faux leather. The outfit is hard and soft at the same time. Trying to find the right shoes for the outfit was an interesting venture. We ended up with a pair of shoes that I own, because we felt they suited the “theme” best. However, Ciarra has a pair of shoes that also look good. They change the vibe, to a more”sweet and girly” look. I will probably shoot the outfit in both pairs.
We will be shooting pictures tomorrow. Today is for running errands and taking care of business.
I also wanted to share with you one of my favorite artists… Christiane Kubrick. You might recognize some of her paintings from the movie Eyes wide shut. They cover the walls of the fabulous apartment in the movie. I have mentioned the Eyes wide shut apartment in an earlier post. Oh how I love it! Movie or not, that is an amazing flat!

I love the rich and vibrant colors Christiane uses in her works of art. The beautiful scenery is so inspiring and calming to me. I am big into nature, so the themes she often chooses to paint, are just my style. I could look at her paintings all day. They take me to another place, of quiet and beauty.
Christiane Kubrick also has an art school. You can learn more about this fabulous woman and her amazing art by clicking HERE. You can also view other paintings and etchings as well. It is worth the visit! And if you are lucky enough to live near her estate in England, you could attend the Childwickbury Arts fair, which is held every year. To learn more about the fair click HERE.
Just looking at her work makes me want to pull out my canvas and paint. Thank you Christiane for the inspiration! 🙂
I just wanted to share some quotes on the subject of kindness that I love. If you know me, you know how I feel about rude, mean and selfish individuals. I am always astounded at the people who feel the need to go out of their way to be cruel, or tear others down. How sad they must be? It takes so MUCH energy to behave that way, so just imagine how much they could accomplish if these angry individuals focused their energy in a more positive manner! In order to be truly kind, you must have love in your heart. Without love, kindness can not exist. Here are my favorite quotes on kindness. These too, inspire me.
“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
 Sam Levenson
“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
 Henry James
“Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
― Mother Teresa
“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
 Mark Twain
“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”
 Dalai Lama XIV
“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.”
 Audrey Hepburn
“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.”
 Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolution.”
 Kahlil Gibran
“Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, and don’t put up with people that are reckless with yours.”
Mary Schmich (AMEN MARY! whoo hooo!)

“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
― Lao Tzu

“There is nothing so rewarding as to make people realize that they are worthwhile in this world.”

And these are but a few…
