The vampy project and my fun with coats…

I am currently working on an amazing project for Ciarra. I am really nervous and excited to see the way it comes out. It is a skirt and top that are quite “vampy” in nature. I love the colors and the TEXTURE more importantly. I am really getting into mixing textures in a way that goes from one extreme to the next. I love it.

I also have four coats…YES…FOUR COATS in the works all at the same time…this is nuts I know, but I want to make sure I get them done before the end of October (good luck to me! LOL) I have my plaid casual coat, a really cool ORANGE coat (yes orange!) My pretty blush pink coat, and my long black coat.

Since I live in the mid-atlantic region of the country, I can really wear coats! We have actual weather here, and in winter the cold literally SEEPS into you. If you have not been to Washington D.C. or the East coast in the middle of winter, you have no idea what I am talking about…you may think you know, but trust me you don’t. It is just something you have to experience for yourself. Wet cold is like a living breathing creature…much like the Dementors in Harry Potter…it slithers and creeps all over your body, and devours you, leaving you to shiver and shake…You become a giant meat Popsicle.

Hence the importance of the coat! And since we have to wear them…why not have fun with it! Various colors, lengths and materials…the sky is the limit.

Years ago I fell in love with a long black evening coat the Nicole Kidman wears in the movie Eyes Wide shut. I loved the way it trailed so lady like behind her, as she walked through her fabulous New York apartment.

If you want to see the coat in action and how it moves, there is a youtube video that shows the opening of the movie (which is where this scene is) I did not post it here due to nudity (you see Nicole’s backside) I don’t wish to offend anyone, so if you want to see it you can click HERE.

There are a lot of coat lengths that went down the runway this fall, but some of the more dramatic ones were the maxi coats. They just project a sort of “super power” but also romantic look to them that I just love. Here are some of my favorites…

OMG I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS! Haider Ackermann maxi coat!

A bit steam punk isn’t it! LOVE IT!

Just amazing!!

The main function of a maxi coat it is to keep the cold OUT. When you want to wear a dress in winter, a coat like this is a must. A bonus??…IT LOOKS AWESOME.

Maxi, short, knee length,…wool, leather, tweed…no mater what the style, a coat needs to be functional. If you are like me and live in a place where it gets cold, have fun with your outerwear!

Until next post,
