The Black Peplum Sweater

Here is the black peplum sweater I recently finished. It is made out of a medium weight cotton sweater knit, which I purchased online from Mood. I also created the pattern myself. This project came together really fast, and after I cut out the pieces, it was about an hour and a half later that the sweater was done. I added a tiny scalloped edge elastic around the neck edge.  The sweater is thick and warm, which was my intention. I wear it under the orange coat I just made. The sweater and coat were inspired by my “A stroll through the park in autumn” set that I created on Polyvore.

Tomorrow I get back to work on the clutch purse I am making, which should be finished soon. I have so many projects planned, and my goal to get as many finished as I can before the end of the year.

What projects do you have planned? Is anyone making anything special to wear for the holidays? I would love to hear about it. πŸ™‚

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend so far,
Until next post

  1. That is really beautiful!! I have a hooded shirt to make for one of my girls next. Then on my to do list are 2 zippered pullovers for my girls, lounge pants for my son, cargo pants for my son, a jumper dress with matching t-shirt for one of my girls, and 2 pairs of pants for myself. That's what is on the need to make list. Then there is the other list of things I'd like to make! LOL Why do I do this to myself? Because I'm addicted to sewing. I finished binding the 3 quilts today. I'll be putting them up on my blog soon.

  2. Awesome! Thank you for the complement, and I can't wait to see the quilts πŸ™‚
Sounds like you are going to be busy sewing! Are any of the things you are making Christmas gifts? I try to make stuff every year for my kids. It is hard to keep it secret though. I have to lock myself in my bedroom, and move all my equipment in there so they can't see what I am putting together! πŸ˜‰

  3. No, nothing is being made for a Christmas gift. Funny you mention that though. I was thinking earlier how I should be making an outfit for them as a gift because I always buy one instead. It's like Christmas in our house when a box of fabric comes in. They want to tear into it as much as I do, and then all the questions come, "who is this for?" LOL

  4. hahahah! My kids are the same way! Of course one of the first thing out of my son's mouth is, "Can I have the box!" I swear…if I just gave him boxes as gifts he would be perfectly happy! He has a great imagination. It is fun to watch him pretend πŸ™‚

  5. Very lovely, Amy. The peplums are so flattering, though I never thought of using a sweater knit for a peplum top. Such a great idea! And I like the shape of the neckline. Well drafted and nicely done.
