Food Glorious Food!

I always find it utterly shocking when I hear someone sneer about eating healthy. They assume that eating fresh, colorful healthy food is yucky, tastes like rabbit food, or grass. How clueless they are!
I would much rather eat clean, than eat junk. Take a look at all of these recipes for clean eats that are on my “Clean Eating” board on Pinterest (yes there are even treats included!). Links to all the recipes are located on my board HERE.

Turkey Burger and Crisps!

These are but of few of the yummy things I keep adding to my board. My husband LOVES those sour patch kids (I think they are gross) he only eats them if we go to the movies, so I thought it would be fun to make him the sour patch grapes recipe when we have movie night here at home.
The “bikini rolls” are something I have been making for a long time. In the summer I just don’t like to eat heavy foods. The humidity and heat make me crave light and refreshing foods. Salads and wraps like these are perfect to take along when we go out on our boat. The “Spa Popsicles” are a great thing after a long session of yoga, and they are “free” food so to speak. Have as many as you like, because they wont go to your thighs.
Right now my husband and I are training to build some muscle. During this phase of our training program we absolutely MUST eat the proper amount of food. I always get so surprised at how my appetite just goes off the hook when I am building muscle. I get hungry OFTEN, and not just a little…a LOT. This is why clean nutritious food is so very important. As we get closer to april, my carb consumption will go down and the cardio will go up. I notice that when I eat too many starchy carbs I totally BLOAT. No woman likes to bloat. If you find you have a problem with retaining water, try eating less starchy carbs, and up your green veggie intake. Eat only “brown” carbs like brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal and whole grain bread like Ezekiel bread. Leave these carbs for breakfast and lunch, and cut them out after that. Dinner would be protein and a big colorful salad with a healthy vinaigrette for example.
Also quit the coffee habit, and switch to green tea. If you can drink coffee black, then go for it, otherwise jasmine green tea by itself is a very delicate and tasty way to get your morning perk going. I never add anything to my jasmine green tea. If you are one of those people that can’t handle plain tea, then try using truvia or stevia to sweeten your tea. Lemon is always ok to add. I try to avoid adding honey because I just don’t want to drink my calories! I would much rather chew them.
