Who doesn’t like to relax and have “alone time” with their significant other? That is what “tiki time” in our house is all about!!
I got the whole idea of “tiki time” from an episode of Malcolm in the Middle. Hal decides he is going to transform their garage into a tiki paradise, after he and Lois realize they only had been spending mere seconds talking to each other a day. They missed spending time together, and so the “tiki time” began. Check out this clip from the show. It cracks me up every time I see it….
What couple hasn’t felt like this at one time or another? It does not matter what you do during your own “tiki time” the point is that you spend it ALONE!

In my house right now, tiki time is also spent in our garage…only instead of having tropical cocktails, we are working out. When John and I are in the garage, there are no kids, it is just us. Even though we are working up a sweat, we still have a blast!
After we move to our new house, we intend on creating a tiki lounge just like Lois and Hal’s here, for those special evenings! It will be located in a little building (think gazebo or pool house) on the property, or in our basement or bonus room. I think it is fun! It reminds us that every day can be treat, and that even though we are not on vacation at that particular moment, we can still feel like we are. Tiki Time RULES!
After John and I are done “pumping up” in the garage, we come back into the house to have our recovery supplements and protein shake. Here are some “tiki time” themed protein shake recipes that you can try for yourself…

Here is what I serve John his protein shakes in. This glass came from John’s late Grandmother Bea. I believe she got the glass from Beach Bum Burts in Redondo Beach, CA when it was still there long ago…
I love this glass! I wish I had more of them. I need to look on ebay for them.
Here are some ideas for a “tiki time tiki lounge” that I came across online. Some of these pics are vintage photos.
