“Something old, is new again!” 90’s Slip Dress-Summer and Fall look.

Hello again! This week we are starting up a new segment for “Look Of The Week” called “Something Old, Is New Again.” Here we will share looks created with items already existing in our closet and/or vintage items styled into looks that are viable today. With fashion something old (styles from the past) always become new again. In this case we journey back to the 1990’s. Our look of the week for August 17this this pink floral slip dress. We styled this dress two ways; one for summer, and the second as we transition into fall.

Ciarra channels her inner “Agent Scully” wearing a simple crucifix here. A nod to our favorite 90’s TV series and fandom! The truth is out there people! 😉

And there you have it! The 90’s slip dress….something old becomes something new!

This dress is pretty special to me, not only because of the fact that it was one of the first things that I made that wasn’t totally horrible, but also the fabric print contains a flower that turned out to be Ciarra’s favorite flower as a child (and still to this day) I can’t remember exactly what year I made this, I just know it was 1996 or 1997. Ciarra was a toddler, and she did like this fabric! This was one of the first items that I actually finished seams on (using a zig zag, as I didn’t have a serger back then!) This dress, (and a petite blue floral print one which I will share soon) has been sitting in my closet for years. I just couldn’t bring myself to give them away. I’m so glad now that I didn’t! For a 22 year old dress it is still in great condition. When I look at this minimalist simple dress, it reminds me of how far my family and I have come! We have lived on both coasts now, and so many memories and moments come to mind. Now that Ciarra is wearing this dress, it’s even more special! I guess you can say it is a family heirloom now.

I am thinking about adding this dress to our shop. If you would like one, please comment below.

I hope you found this post as fun as I have. I hope it inspires you to take a second look at what items you have in your closet, and find new and exciting ways to wear them. Wearing quality items over and over again helps to minimize waste in our landfills, and keeps our planet clean. What do you think of this look? Do you have any vintage items in your closet you wear again and again? I would love to hear how you restyle older items in your wardrobe! Comment below and tell me all about it!

Until next time,

  1. Love this dress and the pattern!!! I really liked a flowered wrap top I made with navy pants. Don’t have it any more but I loved it.
