Day 19- Relaxation & Wellbeing
Today I am very thankful for relaxation and wellbeing. In western society, there is not enough emphasis on the importance of just taking time for yourself to relax. It really frustrates me when I hear mothers in particular say they “feel guilty” for taking time to do something for themselves. This is just plain wrong. To be a good mother, you need to be happy…and if you never take the time to do the things that make you happy…it will be reflected on to your children! Take time to love yourself, like you love your children! This also goes for workaholic men! Don’t stress yourself into an early grave. TURN OFF THE COMPUTER, and “just be” in the moment. Taking time off like this helps the body to heal, unload stress, and makes for a healthy mental state. Take time each day to relax and so something for yourself. Make a bath, read a book for pleasure and have a cup of tea or glass of wine. Take a mini vacation, take a walk, or go for a run. Your mental and physical health with thank you. Some of my favorite ways to relax are yoga, going for long walks, shutting off my phone and iPad, meditation, and heading out into my garage to workout alone. I also enjoy laying on a beach and reading, or just listening to the waves, and watching the people walk by.
What do you do to increase your wellbeing? What healthy habit can you begin to help you mentally and physically? What are you thankful for today? Please share.
