Motivation Monday-What foods I will be eating during this training period

Today is the first post of my Motivation Monday blog series, and it is all about food! I love to eat, especially healthy home cooked meals. If you read my “Fitness Secrets” blog series, then you already know the basics of what I eat to fuel my body while training. Please review this blog post to understand how I will be eating, and also to figure out how many calories you should be eating if you want to lose fat/cut. I have a calculator there complete with macro break downs! It is all explained here so please read that if you haven’t yet.

There have been some recent changes to what I eat on the daily and I wanted to share what I have added….
-
Celery/Lemon/ Parsley Juice.
Instead of just drinking Lemon water with ACV, I drink celery juice mixed with fresh squeezed lemon juice and a little parsley. While I have an actual juicer, I prefer to use my NutriBullet for this, as I get all the fiber of the vegetable, and nothing is wasted. I enjoy the taste, and I find it really refreshing. I admit I made it with lemon essential oil one day when I ran out of lemons, and it was disgusting! SO SLIMEY! The taste was yucky too. I will stick to using my essential oils in capsules from now on! LOL
I drink this juice first thing in the morning, then wait at least 30 minutes before I eat anything else. This helps immensely with my digestion, and is really helping with my skin and hair. I also notice I am not as bloated anymore.

Less Caffeine
I am slowly tapering off my coffee drinking, and I don’t use any form of preworkout. Too much caffeine causes cysts for me, and I just don’t want to go there! I stick to one mug full, each morning (this also saves money, as coffee isn’t exactly cheap!) eventually I will get back to just drinking tea, and then probably nothing…we shall see!

Sticking to lower carbs for me.
My body can’t handle large quantities of starchy carbs any longer. When I begin training, I will only be eating 2 to 3 servings of starchy carb a day. I am much more comfortable when I do this. If I eat too many carbs, my stomach bloats horribly, I feel sluggish, and have lots of abdominal pressure. I absolutely MUST rinse rice off before cooking it if I eat it. If I don’t, OMG…my stomach gets angry, and the water just piles on! No one likes to look 10 pounds heavier than they are! Some people do really well with higher carb diets, so if you do, then by all means, go for it! You absolutely need carbs to build and repair muscle. I just like to stick to fruits more, and less with the grains.

So there you have it! This is how I will be fueling up for my busy days ahead. I would love to know if any of you will be starting off your new year with a reboot, or “refresh” to your current lifestyle. Please join Ciarra and I along our fitness adventure. We would love to have people to talk to about it, and also share insights with. Comment below with any questions, suggestions, or to let us know if you will be joining us.
I look forward to this fitness journey!
Until Next Post,
Amy
