3 of my favorite things!-POST #1
I am starting a new blog post series called “3 of my favorite things” where I will regularly post about three things that I am currently loving! These “things” will run the gamut from many categories. Examples of some of these categories will include favorite foods and recipes, workout clothing items, places to visit, art, restaurants, workouts, TV shows, fashion styles, accessories, beauty products, health and vitality products, and much more!
If there are any readers out there who happen to have any items, or places they would like us to review, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We always have fun trying out new items, and visiting new places!
Without further ado, here are “3 of my favorite things!”…
#1- DoTerra Lavender Essential oil
IN LOVE! that pretty much sums up how I feel about my DoTerra Lavender essential oil. I had been having really horrible headaches every single morning due to teeth grinding. I have a lot on my plate, and as anyone who is in the same boat as me knows, you can get really stressed out! I knew I had to do something to help my teeth grinding and stress problem, because I couldn’t go another day having to take ibuprofen… DoTerra to the rescue! I remembered my friend mentioning her husband having recurring headaches, and using Lavender essential oil to help him out. I contacted her about my problem, and she was so kind to send me some samples to test these oils out for myself. I bought a cold mist diffuser, and proceeded to defuse the Lavender oil at bedtime. I woke the next day to NO HEADACHE! SAY WHAT!? It was amazing!! I was sold! Just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, I continued every night until the sample ran out, and you know what? I haven’t had a headache since! I immediately bought a family starter kit, and have been using DoTerra ever since. I will talk about some more of my favorite oils in future favorite things posts, and what they have done to help out my family. If you have a lot of stress in your life, I highly recommend Lavender DoTerra essential oil. It’s just awesome. For more on this amazing oil, and how to get your own, click HERE.
#2- Alo Yoga leggings and workout wear
I have totally been crushing on Alo Yoga lately. I want a pair of their Goddess leggings so bad! Lucky for me I have a birthday coming up, so I think these will go on my “birthday List”. I really love the pastel colored ones, such as the “sky” color, mint, white and also the light pink. I love the white high waisted moto leggings too. the Wanderer top is totally awesome. I really love all the colors, but especially the sky and the white. Hopefully I will get lucky on my birthday and my family will surprise me with any of these *cough hint cough* 😉
#3-Chocolate coconut cream Chia Seed Pudding
Ok folks, chia seed pudding is not anything new, and I am pretty sure if you go on Pinterest at all, you will know what I am talking about! I have looked at many pins for a long time now of this amazing food, but never had the courage to try it out until now. I was afraid it would taste too “earthy” or something like that, but IT DOESN’T! Chia is pretty amazing stuff, in that it “transforms” into the flavor of what ever you choose to blend it with. These tiny little seeds swell and absorb something like 10 to 12 times their weight in liquid. This in turn creates a sort of “bubble” around the seed. The texture of this pudding reminds me of tapioca pudding or rice pudding. In my recipe we use coconut cream and chocolate almond milk, but feel free to experiment with what ever combos you wish. My kids and I are obsessed with this stuff! We love to top ours with fresh fruit, cocao nibs, and dried coconut ( we like the caramel Dang brand) We highly recommend you give this recipe a try. It’s great when you have a sweet tooth, but don’t want to eat a bunch of super sugary junk. Chia is a natural source of good fats. good fats=good skin, nails and hair!
Amy’s Chocolate Coconut Cream Chia seed pudding
1/3 cup chia seeds
1 cup chocolate almond milk
approximately 1/2 cup of canned coconut cream ( I use trader joes brand)
2 tbsp of REAL maple syrup
1 tbsp of dark chocolate cocoa powder (you can use cocao powder if you wish too)
Just blend all ingredients together thoroughly. Stir after about 4 hours, then Let sit overnight in a glass container.
Stir again before serving, and top with what ever toppings you wish!
It’s that simple!
*Note- i have not provided calorie breakdowns because depending on what you use, the breakdown will vary.
